Synod Summary Submissions
Dear Parishioners

Effective from 12 September 2022 midnight, NZ Covid-19 traffic lights system has ended. Cardinal John has issued guidelines regarding Parish practices on the removal of the Covid Protection Framework. Our Lady of The Bays will be introducing these with effect from Saturday, 24 September. We will then be able to:
  • Receive Communion under both kinds resuming.
  • Communion on the tongue can now be provided if it can be done safely.
  • There can be contact at the Sign of Peace.
  • Masks will no longer be required  although Parishes may choose whether they want Eucharistic Minister to wear masks.
  • Holy water can be made available at the church door, refreshed regularly.
  • Dispensation from the Sunday obligation has now been removed.
  • Parishioners may still wish to take their own safety precautions when attending Mass. Please continue to show the tolerance to their choices.
  • Parishes are also reminder of the importance of having vigilant hygiene procedures to prevent the spread of illnesses, not just Covid.
